They are not Serious

 The NBA has managed to pimp out Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as the second highly publicized day for regular season basketball action; Christmas Day action is number one. What I found interesting this year was the final game scheduled for national broadcast via TNT between the Houston Rockets and LA Clippers. This would be the first time Chris Paul returned to Staples Center to face his former team after his trade request this past off-season.
 
Clearly, I was not aware of the beef Chris Paul had with some of his former teammates. On the surface they always appeared to have gotten along; by the end of the night it was clear that wasn’t so. There were numerous scuffles in this marquee matchup which bewildered me because players on those teams are not the “fighting type”. I see Blake Griffin as the guy who will buck up and act like he wants to fight but wouldn’t bust a grape. Chris Paul I always believed to be the proverbial nice guy who wouldn’t dare be caught instigating drama. Read more
